REAL WEDDING // Jenna & Luke - Dreamy Santorini Watercolour Wedding

blue dome 2.jpg

Huge congratulations to Jenna and Luke who tied the knot in Santorini last summer at the STUNNING Santo Winery. If you’re anything like us, these beautiful blue sky photographs are what you need on this frosty February morning, so a grab a cuppa and read all about their seaside nuptials. Photography by Eva Rendl Photography and Dimitris Paridis Photography.

We loved working with Jenna & Luke to create their suite of bespoke wedding day stationery including Order of Service fans, table plan, menu choice cards and place settings all finished with fresh green watercolour background, modern calligraphy and gold foiled detail.

venue 1.jpg

Their stunning location didn’t need much decoration but we love how the crisp white interior of Santo Winery mixed with the blue sky and sea echoed the traditional blue and white architecture of the region. Our stationery and the floral arrangements by Betty Flowers added the finishing pops of green to their ceremony space.

REAL WEDDING // Moya & Stuart - Sun, Sea and Star Wars in Aruba

Wedding day photography by Demian Gibbs Photography

Wedding day photography by Demian Gibbs Photography

Moya and Stuart had not one but two celebrations for their marriage, the first was an intimate ceremony on the beach in beautiful Aruba; the second a big old knees up surrounded by friends and family by the sea in Devon.

Dearly Beloved_ Stu&Moya_Aruba&invitation.jpg

We created two separate invitation designs for this awesome couple, the first was a postcard for their nearest and dearest joining them in Aruba. Featuring a simple sunset illustration, we wanted to create something that felt like it could have been a note from the couple’s latest holiday, but with a hint to the styling for the (first) big day.

DEMIANGIBBSPHOTOGRAPHY.0022.jpg

Before they set off for Aruba Moya and Stuart created their own Pinterest board featuring sea and sunset colour scheme, this helped us get their designs just right. The rest of their styling was done by venue, Divi Aruba, who provided flowers, chairs and decorations for their stunning celebration.

Bride Moya totally nailed her wedding look with this elegant lace gown from Asos, light enough for the hot weather but still 100% bridal.

DEMIANGIBBSPHOTOGRAPHY.00196.jpg

Stuart is a huge Star Wars fan and so it’s no surprise that fun touches like this cake copper were incorporated into the styling for their wedding.

Their second invitation was a sophisticated design featured hand painted lettering and illustrated sea waves.

For their UK wedding celebration Moya and Stuart chose at the Royal Plymouth Corinthian Yacht Club on Plymouth seafront. Although a little less sunny this time round the couple still celebrated in style. Moya chose a whole new bridal look wearing a stunning Chi Chi London dress.

How cute are these Star Wars lego terrarium centrepieces? Hand made by the groom each table featured succulents and a different scene based on their favourite characters.

We also used their bespoke artwork to create signage for the reception including a cover for their guestbook and a wedding post box for messages from their guests.

REAL WEDDING // Abbi & Matt - North Devon Farmhouse Glam Wedding

Abbi&Matt-GraceElizabethPhoto&Film-453.jpg

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE - What better way to celebrate the beginning of 2019 than sharing a special wedding from the previous year! 5th September 2018 was the day our buddies Abbi & Matt tied the knot at the stunning North Devon venue Ash Barton Estate. Abbi & Matt chose a mix of bespoke and DIY hand made details for their wedding day which included belting out Queen songs during their ceremony, evening sparklers, home baked cakes, hand painted stationery and more. This wedding day is bound to give you the all the feels so read on for heartwarming photos, beautiful details and top tips from the bride herself - Enjoy! Wedding day photography by Grace Elizabeth Photo & Film.

Abbi was keen to use stars within the couple’s bespoke wedding designs; from her clothing and jewellery to their home furnishings stars always feature and so this is where their invitation artwork began. We had previously created a portrait for the couple and this paired with a constellation motif became the backbone of their stationery.

We met with Matt and Abbi to chat about the feel they wanted to create for their wedding day and although formal they still wanted their invitations to feel fun. The gold detail gave an element of glamour and the sleek, slim shape kept it feeling like guests were invited to a black tie affair.

Ash Barton Estate is an exclusive use venue nestled in the North Devon countryside; chapel, party barn, farmhouse with kitchen and rooms for guests to stay, pool, games room, not to mention the view; this venue was perfect for Abbi & Matt who, with the help of friends and family, did everything from a big welcome BBQ to baking their own wedding cake before the official celebrations had even begun.

Abbi&Matt-GraceElizabethPhoto&Film-35.jpg
Abbi&Matt-GraceElizabethPhoto&Film-3.jpg

Their day had all the glamour of a (big) vintage white wedding - tuxedoes and all, but with the warmth of an intimate family celebration; this couple took their time spending a couple of years planning a day right for them. Read on for top tips from the DIY bride herself, our beautiful pal Abbi…

Find a venue that works for you: We knew from day one that we did not want a venue that you rock up to, in a hotel, and stay for 10 hours whilst making small talk at the shared bar with another wedding, or worse some sort of business convention. No, no, no. Luckily the year before we got engaged one of my best friends got married at a venue with accommodation for guests and it helped in our wedding venue hunt so much.

More than just one day: We knew we wanted our guests there to celebrate with us the night before and night of the wedding; with ours being a DIY wedding this venue also gave us the chance to get in and decorate the day before (which actually turned into 2 days before, what a dream!). Also having guests coming from such a mix of locations from Birmingham, Bristol, Torquay and Plymouth we tried to find a venue somewhat in the middle, and chanced upon North Devon and our incredible venue, Ash Barton Estate.

Look and feel: Think about what you want your day to look and feel like, do you want guests there over night all mucking in, having a bbq and sitting by the fire pit. Do you want kids (and many adults) running around, playing on trampolines and fighting about air hockey. Do you want a self serving bar for your guests to enjoy… because we did!

For big family weddings having guests stay on site at the venue is a great idea, everyone was free to head back to their rooms to change out of heels/grab a jumper/take kids for a nap, but of course you don’t want anyone to miss any of the action. We created this Order of the Day sign featuring their bespoke constellation illustration to keep all the guests up to date with what was happening when.

Pastel florals with coral pink pops of colour created by Sophie Millington looked beautiful throughout the venue across the stone buildings and hanging foliage.

Abbi&Matt-GraceElizabethPhoto&Film-413.jpg

You cannot ever re-do you wedding photos: … so make damn sure your photographer can create what you are looking for. As you might have guessed from above, our wedding was a family affair, full of kids and so many of our friends chipping in and becoming immersed in the whole experience with us. We were not going to be able to capture the feel of this in posed, poised photos. We needed natural, candid shots throughout the day, and this is exactly why we went with Grace and Mitch. I had met them even before we got engaged, whilst Grace was still a student, as I helped on a styled shoot (with none other than Dearly Beloved). Grace and Mitch were shooting me throughout the day and made me feel so comfortable, when the photos came back in I felt she had captured me so well, laughing, joking, and relaxed. So, as soon as we got engaged we contacted Grace and as soon as the venue had confirmed dates we booked her there and then. Not only does Grace have this ability, but so does her (now) husband Mitch, and having them both there on the day meant while Grace stayed with the bridal party Mitch could shoot the boys, guests arriving, last minute touches to the venue, etc. When getting the photos back these were all the moments I’d missed but now could some how relive. Grace’s style is dreamy, relaxed and natural and Matt knew early on he wanted something like this. Getting those photos back a month all two later will bring it all back to you, emotions will be running high! There is nothing like it, these are the tokens from the day you will keep forever so again, make it work for you!

Abbi&Matt-GraceElizabethPhoto&Film-265.jpg

Plan a wedding you can afford: Unless you have been told, do not assume your family have been squirrelling away pennies for your big day. It’s not the 1950s! We decided on a budget of £6000 and for that we know we could get all the things we really wanted. Also our venue was a beautiful setting and completely DIY so it did some of the work for us but also allowed us to put out stamp on it. The £6000 did turn into £9000 after family members did want to contribute, but this money went on adding those finishing touches. We paid for the registrar to come to the venue (costing £500, instead of a 2 witness ceremony the day before which would have been £45), for the band to stay on for an extra hour, for a bigger hog roast to feed our guests, more flowers to help set off the tables during high tea as well as hiring more crockery and buying in all the majority of the high tea food. All these things made the day a little easier on me (the bride) too as many of these things were on my list of things to beg, borrow, make or steal!

Working with Dearly Beloved: Well as Abi and Ben have been dear friends of mine for 7 years this was a no-brainer for me, but when I met Matt his love of illustration made it even more clear that their work was the perfect fit for us. So, disclaimer, we love these guys… and might be a little bit biased, so I have written this more as a ‘tips’ during the bespoke design process. The beauty of working with a husband and wife team is that you get the best of both worlds. In this case, it is the blend of two styles: Abi being much more free, traditionally feminine and mostly hand painted; Ben being more clear, clean and digitally created - Abi and Ben married the clean and hand painted perfectly. We also kept in some of the hand painted elements I loved by using the portrait Abi had made for us for our save the dates (P.S if you are reading this as a wedding guest rather than bride, buy a freaking portrait for a wedding present, it is the best thing ever and so personal!). Also, if you want to be a fancy pants like us, get the gold foiling, it is delicious and your friends will swoon over it! the biggest lesson we learned was to have conversations and ask questions in those first few meetings/chats, the more you ask in the beginning the more you will love your designs.

Relaxed yet decadent, Art Deco wedding inspiration

We are so excited to finally share these stunning photos from Margo R Photography’s latest styled shoot. This is Great Gatsby but not as you’ve imagined it before; the team created a beautiful look inspired by the classic 1920s styles we know and love but with a relaxed vibe perfect for modern couples.

MargoRyszczuk-5689.jpg

Here’s what Margo had to say… “I wanted to create something different and unique, using a style that I love – one that is darker than the classical wedding – yet alternative, elegant & glamourous. So, I moved away from conventional whites, creams, reds and pinks. I chose the colour Gold to have the starring role… associated with… sparkle, glitz and glamour.”

art-deco-pub-wedding-MargoRyszczuk-5452.jpg

For couples that want to ditch the ballroom suite in favour of a good old fashioned knees up booking a pub as a wedding reception venue is the perfect choice (and it’s easy on the bank balance too). With just a few details Margo and this team of talented suppliers transformed their favourite local pub, community arts hub Bread and Roses, into a reception venue with vintage charm.

Do you have any tips for couples in the process of wedding planning?
Don’t get too bogged down with Fashionable  items or the current Fad, stick to classic designs and decor that you can look back on in in years to come. Also try and make it personal and include things that tell your story. Remember to have fun, it should be a fun experience planning your dream day.

Pete and I actually met in Peru, we were both travelling on a G adventures tour and have been inseparable since. So Peru is a very important part of our story.

We were honoured that you chose us to create the stationery for your wedding day, what did you enjoy about working with us?
You were amazing, you produce unique, innovative and fun designs that are still beautiful and elegant. Everyone at Dearly Beloved was happy to be creative with our Peru theme and was so quick and efficient. The products were beautiful and excellent quality. We will definitely be using you again.

We are thrilled to be sharing this joyful wedding day! Arthur Ransome's 'Swallows and Amazons' was the starting point for this couple's invitation design. Sara & Sarah sent us the original map illustration and we also looked at some of the newer versions of the vintage book covers to influence their design. We decided on a mix of watercolour painting and digital drawing with a little pirate twist for their postcard style invitations and RSVP  cards.

VALENTINE'S SPECIAL // REAL WEDDING // Our wedding stationery

dearly beloved abi & ben mid century bird wedding stationery

Back in September 2017 we, Dearly Beloved, tied the knot! It was such as joyful process planning our big day but we would lying if we said that it wasn't a little nerve wracking deciding on what style of stationery to create for our wedding. We wanted to follow our own advice and create artwork that we felt represented us as a teaser of our overall celebration; it turns out once we decided on colour scheme and our little birds illustration everything else fell into place. The autumnal colour scheme included copper foil and plenty of mustard, orange and gold, and with our illustrated birds making frequent appearances across the suite all our visuals had an element of fun.

TOP TIP - Order of the Day signs are a great way to fill guests in on what's happening when so they can enjoy the day (without wondering what time dinner is served :) )

One thing we knew is that it was really important for us to collaborate, Ben created the overall mid century inspired graphics and then Abi re-created Ben's floral motif in her signature brush pen along with some hand painted lettering for the wedding day signage.

As an extra special touch we included envelope liners featuring Ben's retro floral pattern.

We decided it really wasn't too important to us that everything matched perfectly (we're not a perfect kinda couple) but more that our stationery suited the historic, rustic and "a little rough around the edges" feel of the space we were all set to be married in.

dearly beloved bespoke rustic wedding invitations huntsham house

Parisa and Luke contacted us in late 2016 to start work on their wedding invitations; this awesome couple have a rustic, country house wedding planned filled with lots of florals and so asked us to come up with something to suit their stylish day. It was so much fun designing this 3 page invite suite complete with watercolour painted map and modern calligraphy.

This custom Lavender and Gypsophila pattern created from hand painted florals features throughout their bespoke wedding stationery suite.

WE ARE TWO!

Happy birthday to us!

We are thrilled to be celebrating the end of our 2nd year in business this January. We are so grateful for support from some amazing couples, clients, judges, photographers, bloggers, magazines and fellow creatives. This 2nd year has definitely been a challenge but it has been an absolute blinder!

We can't wait to get work on more unique designs for future brides and grooms in 2017 - Onwards and upwards!

SNEAK PREVIEW // Wanderlust Wedding Save the Date

Happy Friday everyone! We just couldn't resist sharing a little peek at one of our latest bespoke projects. This travel inspired luggage label Save the Date is especially close to us as it was created for Abi's brother and his awesome Bride-to-be, due to marry next Spring - HURRAH!

Becky and Jeremy have a glamorous destination wedding planned on the island of Rhodes and wanted personalised wedding stationery that reflected their love of travel. They had seen a few ideas that incorporated suitcase style tags but we wanted to give them modern a look that felt like their very own airline.

It was so much fun coming up with rubber stamp style details, like the 'Come fly with us' illustration featured on the back of the design.

We are SO looking forward to their big day (look out for many inevitable pics of Abi weeping in her bridesmaid dress)! The full suite is under wraps at the moment but we can't wait to share more of their 'Wanderlust' wedding stationery very soon!

When Emma from Best Day Ever was on the look out for creative suppliers to help out with an alternative styled shoot we jumped at the chance to get involved. Influenced by her love of rich Eastern fabrics and colour this look has all the glamour of a traditional Indian wedding but with a laid back modern twist.

We looked to everything from indian mandalas, jewelled sarees and moroccan henna to design this fresh suite of stationery. And for that extra special touch we collaborated with the talented folk over at The Foil Invite Co. who added the delicate gold foiling.

We were lucky enough to attend the shoot and have a little wander around the gorgeous venue, Worden House - It's safe to say Abi is in love with the views of rolling hills, pool side dining area and extra party shed decked out with vintage industrial interior.

Want to create this look for your wedding? The stationery will be available from our website very soon as one of the Dearly Beloved Collections! But if you can't wait just get in touch and we can send you more info via email.

And a special shout out to the talented Devon based team that made the shoot possible - Make sure you head over to their websites to see more of their creative wedding skills!

A Great Gatsby Celebration

Bespoke wedding stationery for Laura and James' Great Gatsby style wedding

Bespoke wedding stationery for Laura and James' Great Gatsby style wedding

Our latest bespoke wedding stationery has been an absolute joy to work on! Laura and James chose a 1920s inspired theme for their wedding and already had some great ideas about the feel they wanted their stationery to have. Laura sent over an email filled their with thoughts and a few images and we worked together to refine everything into this chic collection featuring gramophone illustration and Deco inspired pattern.

The suite was inspired by Art Deco patterns and 1920s lettering

They are due to tie the knot on Bonfire Night with a glamorous Great Gatsby style celebration and so we knew we had to pull out all the stops for this classy suite including invitations, information card and RSVP.

For that special extra touch we designed a label for Laura and James so they could tie everything together with a sophisticated, slim ribbon. We are also working with the happy couple to design some stylish wedding day signage, watch this space for more photos after their big day!
