We wanted to give Manjil and Brad edgy designs that suited them as a modern male couple; colour was also hugely important and so we created a range of items including invitations, RSVPs, menus and signage incorporating a vibrant hot pink to orange ombre.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO FOR BESPOKE WEDDING STATIONERY?
We wanted save-the-dates, invitations and wedding stationery to be very unique - as a gay couple, the idea of marriage has been a relatively new possibility (the US Supreme Court decision just this year!) for us.  To that extent, we didn't want to follow the traditional route.  Bespoke design allowed us to really put our unique ideas forward in a beautiful and modern way, setting the stage for a wonderful wedding for our family and closest friends.

WHAT WAS THE BEST THING ABOUT WORKING WITH DEARLY BELOVED?
Wow, where to start?  We had the most wonderful experience with Dearly Beloved -- Abi and Ben were extremely responsive and easy to work with.  Though we had a rough idea of what we wanted, we had no design/art experience to articulate our ideas. We sent a pinterest board and bunch of clip-art ideas to Abi who transformed our initial designs into a beautiful wedding suite.

Best of all, Abi was SUPER enthusiastic about the project, injecting a vibrant pulse into the project.   Turn-around time for design ideas was super quick and thoughtful -- we often received design alterations within a few hours. Though the project required a lot more work and money than simply picking out a suite of invitations/paper from a website or pre-designed template, the final product was absolutely 100% worth the effort. The bespoke invitations are an amazing way to set the tone for your wedding!

For the formal invitations Manjil and Brad requested a large screenprinted poster; this was so exciting to work on for us, we approached the design as if it was a gig / film poster and hopefully their loved ones will have them pinned up for years to come - a great example of breaking the norm!

MANJIL AND BRAD'S THREE TOP TIPS FOR COUPLES PLANNING A WEDDING
1.  Absolutely remember that you are marrying the person you truly love and the process is meant to be LOVING and FUN --- don't get bogged down in details and try to ENJOY this process.. a wedding is one of the most important events of your life! When there are disagreements, open your mind to alternatives and embrace the union of ideas (easier said than done!).  That said, giving each other unlimited veto power was also very useful!
2.  Start early and involve friends/family in the process.. make a spreadsheet with deadlines and expectations and stick to it!  Estimate a budget for each component of the wedding, and try to stick to it!
3. Closer to the date, planning fatigue is real -- take a break, and don't make hasty decisions.  All in all, remember that the wedding should reflect the couples unique life experiences .. the devil is in the details!
